As the sun rose on a changed landscape, it seemed that all life on earth had

been destroyed mercilessly, so much so that there was even no rubble… No

evidence of what came upon this land; it seemed that destruction had taken a
new meaning with a much more lurid nature. I knew now what people meant
when they said there are no words for describing the atmosphere. I doubted
whether anyone had invented a word fit enough for the destruction that had
befallen this land. The scene portrayed an inconceivable death and destruction
of such proportion that anyone who had come here for the first time would
have never known that a city existed here and any person would have doubted
whether death of such magnitude ever took place here.
There were no corpses but there was the lingering smell of the putrid corpses
but I knew…I knew only too well, a couple of a million people couldn’t just
dematerialize… Could they? They couldn’t possibly… The heat of the day and
the shock of this calamitous event were starting to take their toll on me…. I
started to drift in and out of consciousness and my head was hurting real bad
like the time I had cephalalgia… It felt as if I was dying… I felt as if I was a
moribund person.
