Biography of Sachin Tendulkar

Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar, the most famous cricketer ever, was born on
April 24, 1973 in Mumbai. He had his schooling at Sharadashram
Vidyamandir School in Mumbai. He started playing cricket at a very young
age. He played his first international match at the age of 16, which was a
record at that time.

Sachin's debut match was against Pakistan in a test match on 1989. His
one-day international (ODI) debut was on December 18 against Pakistan.
His maiden ODI century came on September 9, 1994 against Australia in Sri
Lanka at Colombo, just six years after his debut. Starting there, he has so
far scored a record 45 ODI centuries and 49 Test centuries.

Sachin now holds the record for having taken most one-day runs (16000+)
with 45 centuries, and in test matches he scored (14000+) with 49
centuries. Apart from international matches he is the leading run scorer in
the first class cricket. He belongs to the group of rare sportsmen and his
records might never be broken. Sachin Tendulkar has also captained India
for few years.

As a cricketer Sachin Tendulkar follows certain moral values as “virtues of


fairness, self control, courage and persistence while treating the opposition
team and showing respect for both authority and opponents define
Sportsmanship”. Also spirit of cricket calls for honesty and good
Sportsmanship.

After crossing 20 years of cricket life he is still a person with great simplicity
and politeness. Till date there is no remark in his career, even though some
one comments about his batting he responses them with the bat rather than
the words.
Apart from his cricketing career he is doing lot of the social welfare
activities like.,

 Tendulkar has been instrumental in the hospital taking care of total


expenses for treatment of even state level sportsmen and women.

 Tendulkar has also been lending a helping hand to the downtrodden


in Tardeo in Mumbai for over 11 years now by providing clothes and
other necessities to 250 children besides taking care of their complete
education, including books, notebooks, shoes and school uniforms.

 Tendulkar has helped over 300 have-nots so far through the Dr.
Agarwal Eye Hospital in Chennai since October 2004 to get their
cataract and eye grafting operations done. The champion batsman
said he was unwilling to talk about this aspect of his as he did not
want to seek publicity from these causes.
 "Sachin is involved with 'Apnalaya' in Tardeo, Care Hospitals in
Hyderabad and Dr. Agarwal Eye Clinic in Chennai, besides the 'Make
Wish Foundation', which has been doing a remarkable job for over a
decade."

SACHIN RAISED MONEY TO NEEDY PEOPLE:

A small request from Sachin Tendulkar on Twitter, raised over Rs 10 million


for a cancer charity. Tendulkar raised Rs 10.25 million for cancer-affected
children in just two weeks.

The appeal was posted on Twitter as "Sachin's Crusade Against Cancer in


Children". The event was organized by the 'Crusade Against Cancer
Foundation'.
 All donors were presented with a bat signed by Sachin Tendulkar. Sachin
himself thanked the donors and presented the bats. Sachin is going strong
on Twitter with over 379,000 followers so far.

INVOLVEMENT IN “CHARITY”:

Sachin Tendulkar who is already looking after welfare of 200 children from
the same NGO called Apnalaya, . Sachin wants to pay for the education of
200 children as a part of the 'Joy of Giving Week' campaign," he said in
support of the programme conceptualised by another NGO, GiveIndia, to
promote charity. Tendulkar, brand ambassador for the Joy of Giving Week,
fulfilled his promise of conducting a half-day cricket camp with 14 corporate
executives from Whirlpool, and with the seven underprivileged children from
different non-profit organisations (NGOs).
