Pharmacology teaches certain aspects necessary in the field of nursing. It
is important to us nursing students to understand drugs and how they can affect living things, to know the right dosage of drugs and not just quantity. To Identify and respond to drug interactions, reactions and side effects and treat accordingly. Pharmacology will help us in administering medications and administering in specific routes to our patients.
2. How will you associate pharmacology to nursing?
Pharmacology provides knowledge and guidelines necessary for a
quality care in terms of providing medications. The ten rights in administering medications Right medication, the medication given was the medication ordered. Right dose the dose ordered is appropriate for the client. Right patient medication is given to the intended client. Right route give the medication by the ordered route. Right time give the medication at the right frequency and at the right ordered according to agency policy. Right client education, explain information about the medication to the client. Right documentation, record the drug administered. Right to refuse to medication, adult clients have the right to refuse any medication. Right assessment, some medication requires specific assessments prior to administration and Right evaluation, conduct appropriate follow up.
