Dear Colonial Village Neighbors and Friends:
Thank you for your interest in L&L Food Centers. | thought I would share with
you, first hand, the information about L&L Colonial Village closing instead of
having inaccurate information circulating.
Closing a store is never easy. To have to inform our associates that my family
and I have worked with for so many years, some over 30 years, that they no
longer have a job is heart wrenching. We do care deeply about our associates
and all their hard work. The decision to close the Colonial Village location was
made at the insistence of our financial institution. Waiting one, two or even four
‘weeks was not an option, The Colonial Village store has not been profitable for
several years, and quite frankly should have been closed many months ago. My
family and I were optimistic that the economy would tum around and banks
‘would start lending to reinvest in the store so that we could update our facility
and buy the products needed to fill our shelves. This, however, has not come to
pass. After exhausting all options, we had to close immediately.
It is our plan to emerge from these tough times and reinvest in the other
locations. We are working hard to do just that, Resources are still limited and
we hope you will support us in this transition by your continued patronage. Over
300 plus dedicated associates still work for L&L Food Centers and live in this
community. They are ready to serve you. Thank you for your support over
these years. We invite you to shop at the Martin Luther King store just down the
road.
Kindest regards,
Stan Levandowski II, President
