This week our drama course includes dramatization technıques.
Dramatization can creates a context, it can be from the real life. We do improvisation in group work. In order to provide effective drama activities, there are musts. These are characters, event and setting.
Characters must be defined clearly and we give role cards to students
acting out. And in these role cards, everything must be clear. And also we must use opposite character, if the characters have special language patterns, it will be great. Setting is also important. While doing an improvization, we can create an original atmosphere. I mean it may not be necessary to cover all of the area with special things. Sometimes a hat, a cloth, any object explain the setting. There must be a balance between the setting and accessories. Event is also clearly explained. Students can understand it, it must not be confusing.
We will have drama activities, so we talk about what we must to do or not.
For example; use role cards, use narrator, use accessories, don’t interrup the activity ( I like this point very much.), while students are in a group work, monitor them and have a control on all of them. We use this drama activities to teach somethings to the learners but I really wonder how it is. Because the procedure is not clear for me, unfortunately I couldn’t understand it very well. And also I am the last student doing the drama presentation, I mean it may not good for us. In fact I have a handout which explains this procedure and the teacher told about it but If I watch one drama presentation, it is understood by me. I mean I focuse on my visual intelligence.
