Reading never came easy to me as a child. I remember being in first grade and most of the other
students were all reading the short books the teacher would give us, and no matter how hard I
tried i could not read a word on the page. I ended up being placed into an extra class in school
that helped me to read and write. Eventually I got very good at it. Now I love to read, I'm always
reading magazines or thriller books. I have some family members that cannot read at all, I think
knowing how to read gives you access to everything. Without knowing how to read, one can't
expand their knowledge about anything. I think my literacy has given me access to everything, to
an education, jobs, and most importantly an imagination.
