Office of Education Abroad

As I listened to the speaker discuss foreign countries and fascinating cultures that could

be ours to experience in the coming years, there were many thoughts and questions going

through my mind. Many of the concerns I had were questions that the presenter covered

throughout the progression of her presentation, but I am still not sold on the idea of studying

abroad.

My biggest questions that I had with studying abroad were mainly about safety and

money. I am convinced that the school will do whatever they can do to ensure the safety of the

students, but there is only so much they can do since they are not actually in the other foreign

country with the student. I know that the school, particularly the Office of Education Abroad,

will take whatever measures they can to provide safe living environments and helpful tips for

making wise choices that help to keep you safe.

My other main concern was with the cost of studying abroad. She discussed this topic

briefly as well, and she mentioned that there are scholarships and various ways of getting money

to fund your tuition and cost of living. There are ways of making it happen, is just all about how

badly you want it and how hard you are willing to work for it.

After the presentation, I still do not feel like studying abroad is something I am interested

in pursuing. It is not for everyone, but I do think it is an excellent program and would certainly

prove to be beneficial in many ways to anyone who decides to enter into it.
