Hello Miss Enger,

I am writing you in regards to the progress I have made on my franchising report project.
According to my timeline, I seem to be about a week behind on the tasks I have assigned for
myself. I have begun research and seem to have found unlimited amounts of information that are
relevant to my report, making it difficult to decide which specific factors to include within the
outline. I have also tried contacting one of my potential interviewees; however have yet to
receive a response back.

I have the general outline of how I would like my report to be laid out; however the information I
decide to include will be an influencing factor on how the final outline will look. Depending on
the amount of information I find relevant, I will choose topics that I find to be most important
when franchising a business. Once I am able to speak with one of my interviewees, I will be
able to ask them what they find were the most important factors in franchising to help assist me
in determining the most important topics as well.

There are a few things I am still undecided about with my project. One is whether or not to
include an executive summary in the report. Since it’s something that would be summarizing my
document, I will decide whether or not to include one on the basis of how much information I
have when finished, and only if it will be beneficial to my project.

Another undecided factor is what all I will use for visual components. Thus far, I do have a table
of the top ten ranking franchises in early 2010, along with their costs of start-up. Whether or not
I include to have a title and/or cover page will depend on the extent of visual components I find,
and whether or not I include them in my report. If I’m not able to find at least two more visual
components, I will surely include a title and cover page.

In conclusion, many of my decisions will be based on other influential factors. I believe once I
overcome the few obstacles I’m facing, the rest of my report will fall into place. I have learned
and know about a lot of the components involved, the main factor is choosing which topics will
be the most beneficial in my report. One that is decided, I believe I will be able to catch up with
my timeline and continue on from there.

Thank you,
Brinn Fosse
