Three NPA surrender in Davao

Three NPA members surrender on Monday, December 14, 2010 to the


government.

At 10:00 o’clock in the morning, a certain Arman Sum-o, a.k.a. Rodman, 33 years
old and resident of Purok 1, Barangay Binancian, Asuncion, Davao del Norte
surrendered to the peace and development team (PDT) under Pfc Brian Gomez of the
60th Infantry Battalion, 10ID, PA deployed in said barangay. For five months, Sum-o
served under the Guerilla Front 33 of the CPP Southern Mindanao Regional Committee
(SMRC).

At around 2:00 PM of same day, another NPA member, a certain Augusto Paulo
C Dayaganon, a.k.a. Winston, surrendered to the PDT under 1st Lieutenant Joey
Dalagdag of the 3rd Special Forces Battalion deployed in Barangay New Cortez, New
Corella, Davao del Norte. Dayaganon, 19 year old resident of said barangay is a
member of Guerilla Front 33.

In the conduct of follow-up peace and development outreach program directed by


the 1003rd Infantry Brigade, another NPA member voluntarily surrendered an hour later.
A certain Carlo Gumarao, a.k.a. Arman, 20 year old resident of Sitio Muri, Barangay
Banlag, Moncayo, Compostela Valley Province admitted his membership to the Sub-
Reguional Guerilla Unit of the CPP’s Southern Mindanao Regional Committee.

Lieutenant Colonel Greg Almerol, Commander of the 60th Infantry Battalion, 10ID
PA said that the peace initiatives of his unit will continue to reach out to the active NPA
members in order to convince them to go down and support the development programs
of the government. He said, “Ideological and political differences can be resolved
through peaceful means and without resorting to violence for this will hasten the
implementation of government programs that will uplift the life of our people especially
those that in far-flung areas.”

The three surrenderees are now undergoing debriefing before they will be turned
over to their respective families. For this year, a total of 180 members and supporters of
the CPP/NPA/NDF in 10ID AOR have already renounced their affiliation or support to
the underground movement.
