A companion to
Moving from 2D to 3D CAD for
Engineering Design

Although this set of four tutorials was originally written as a companion

for the book: Moving from 2D CAD to 3D CAD for Engineering Design,
they are also an excellent starting point for understanding and mastering
the capabilities of Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 4.0. You can get access to
the software by purchasing the Student Edition at www.JourneyEd.com
or by downloading a free 30-day Tryout Edition from www.ptc.com on
the web. Of course, if you have a commercial version at work or home
you can also complete the assignments.
The first tutorial leads you through a step-by-step process of creating
a part, generating a detail drawing for the part and using Pro/NC
(Pro/MANUFACTURING) to mill and machine the part’s geometry.
The second tutorial involves fitting components together to form an
assembly and documenting the assembly with a drawing and BOM. The
third tutorial uses 2D CAD legacy design data to directly model a part
with the 2D geometry. The fourth tutorial covers annotations for 3D
digital representation of models. Support files for all tutorials are
available at www.cad-resources.com.
