Alchemy
Alchemy is a great profession to have maxed out because you can mix flasks, potions, and
elixirs for yourself and your guild. Below I outline the most efficient path for leveling from 1
to 450. Each step explains which item to craft, what it costs, and any important notes that
will help you level Alchemy as quickly and affordable as possible.

Leveling
Levels 1-140
As you can see leveling from 1 to 140 is pretty easy. The mats include Peacebloom,
Silverleaf, Briathorn, and Bruiseweed. Remember to keep the Minor Healing Potions from
1-55 to use as a material from 55-110 when making Healing Potions.
Levels 140-210
Mageroyal, Stranglekelp, Liferoot, Kingsblood and Goldthorn are usually available on the
Auction House for cheap. At most a few stacks of each and you'll be level 210.
©secretgoldguide.com 5
Levels 210-300
At this point you'll start to find the Auction House lacking in some of the materials needed.
Unfortunately there aren't many alternative paths worth noting to 300. The last two times I
power leveled Alchemy I had to farm the Sungrass and the Khadgar's Whiskers, fortunately
they can both be found in Feralas. Major Healing Potions will resell on the Auction House.
Levels 300-350
The Burning Crusade portion of Alchemy is very easy. You'll need Golden Sansam, Felweed,
Ragveil, Dreaming Glory and Netherbloom which are usually in the Auction House, otherwise
they can be found in Hellfire Peninsula, Zangarmarsh and Netherstorm.
Levels 350-405
The Northrend section until level 425 is very easy. From levels 365 to 405 you can craft
several of the available elixirs for profit or for personal use. The Resurgent Healing Potions
will also resell well.
©secretgoldguide.com 6
Levels 405-450
All of the items crafted from 405 to 450 will resell on the Auction House for a reasonable
profit. Check Flask and Meta prices before selecting which ones to mix or transmute.
Blacksmithing
Blacksmiths forge weapons and gear made of plate and mail, they also craft items important
to other professions such as rods for Enchanters. Blacksmithing can be costly to level, to
reach level 450 you will need a lot of each of the major types of minerals such as Mithril,
Thorium, Fel Iron and Cobalt. Below is a step-by-step guide that tells you exactly what to
craft for each level. It is the most efficient and affordable path to 450.

Leveling
When leveling Blacksmithing save everything you craft. You will craft tons of greens and
even blue equipment which will seem useless at first. You won't have enough bank space so
send all the gear to a bank character and let them float in the mailbox. Finally, when you've
got some time, log onto your disenchanter (or borrow, ask a friend) and disenchant
everything that isn't valuable on the Auction House. The resulting enchanting materials are
a gold mine, likely not as valuable as the thousands of gold you spent to level Blacksmithing
but it will help a ton getting it back.
Levels 1-75
You'll start off by crafting Sharpening and Grinding Stones from Rough and Coarse Stone.
Keep all the Grinding Stones that you make until you know you won't need them again.
Levels 75-150
You'll need Copper, Bronze and Heavy Stones to get to 150. Save any Grinding Stones that
you craft for later.
©secretgoldguide.com 9
Levels 150-220
You'll make Golden Rods until 160 when they turn gray, these should all resell for a profit
but don't post them at the same time. You will use Iron all the way to level 220. Remember
Steel is smelted from Iron+Coal by Miners.
Levels 220-300
You'll need a lot of Mithril and a ton of Thorium to get to level 300. At level 275 you'll need
to visit Derotain Mudsipper in Gadgetzan to learn to make Imperial Plate Bracers, bring him
10 Thorium Bars.
©secretgoldguide.com 10
Levels 300-350
You will need 10 Netherweave, almost 150 Fel Iron Bars and 80 or so Adamantite Bars to
reach level 350. You'll need to travel around a little bit to get the needed recipes. Head to
the Master Blacksmithing Trainer with enough materials to get at least to level 335.
Levels 350-450
Here you will need a ton of Cobalt. These are the items that will start to be valuable to
disenchant. Fortunately you will be able to make it to level 420 before having to craft
anything that isn't orange (100% to level). You can make Eternal Belt Buckles at level 420,
which almost typically sell for a profit on the Auction House (check your realm's prices first).
Level 445+ kinda sucks, you can try to make and sell Titansteel gear for other players, or
yourself, to make this less painful but this will be dependent on if you can find people to
help you with the costs.

Enchanting
Enchanters provide all sorts of powerful weapon and equipment buffs to players, but
reaching level 450 in Enchanting can be difficult since it is one of the most expensive
professions to level in World of Warcraft. This guide shows you exactly what to do at each
step along the way, it is designed to be the most efficient and affordable path from level 1
to 450.

Leveling
Leveling Enchanting is the most expensive/time consuming of any profession currently in
the game. It's really due for a nerf by Blizzard, but until then we'll have to deal with finding
tons of greens to disenchant or paying top dollar for dust. The best way I've found to level
Enchanting is to continue to apply the enchants to trash gear in your inventory, over and
over. Don't try to find people to give the enchants to, even for tips, it's not worth the time
searching. Also keep in mind the where dust comes from and how to get it. You can buy
greens off the Auction House (this usually isn't cheap enough though), you can craft greens
©secretgoldguide.com 13
with another profession and disenchant those or you can farm instances of that level to get
greens cheap.
Levels 1-155
You'll go through a ton of Strange Dust, hopefully it's priced low on the Auction House or
you'll need to go to the Deadmines, Stockades or craft green level ~10-20 items with other
professions and disenchant those.
Levels 155-230
You'll want to visit Astranaar (Alliance) or Sun Rock Retreat (Horde) to get a very helpful
Bracer Enchant - Lesser Strength. The Soul Dust you need comes from level 26-35 items (or
items that require about level 130-175 to craft with other professions). The Vision Dust you
need comes from level 36-45 items (or items that require level 180-225 to craft).
Levels 230-300
Dream Dust comes from level 46-55 items, or green items that require level 230-275 to
craft with another profession. The Lesser Eternal Essences come from level 51-55 greens,
those that require level 255-275 to craft with another profession. Illusion Dust is bound to
©secretgoldguide.com 14
be expensive on the Auction House, you can get it from level greens 56-65, or greens that
require level 275-325 to craft with another profession.
Levels 300-375
Arcane Dust comes from level 66-75 greens, typically those that are from Outland, or
greens that require level 330-375 to craft with another profession. The Planar Essence come
from the same group of items (although many of the lvls are much higher, ignore those).
Levels 375-450
You will need tons of Infinite Dust all the way to 450, this is the stuff that is actively selling
on the Auction House for several gold. Cosmic Essence and Infinite Dust come from level
76+ items. Dream Shards come from level 76+ blues.

Engineering
With Engineering players can do all sorts of fun things, such as falling from large distances
and using a parachute cloak to slow their fall, throwing frost bombs, putting down NPCs who
can repair your equipment and even resurrecting an ally after they have died. Much like
Blacksmithing, Engineers require a lot of minerals such as Mithril, Thorium, Fel Iron and
Cobalt to reach level 450. Below is the most affordable and efficient way to level from
1-450.

Levels 1-80
80-85 Copper Bars, 30-40 Rough Stones and some Weak Flux is all you need to get to level
80.
Levels 80-160
More Bronze Bars until level 140 where you can use either Bronze or Gold. You need at least
5 Gold Power Cores for level 170-175 so craft at least 5 at level 140.
Levels 160-225
©secretgoldguide.com 18
Levels 225-300
You'll need almost 200 (or more) Thorium to make it to level 300.
Levels 300-375
Unfortunately you'll need a lot of Fel Iron and even some Primal Fire and Primal Earth.
Hopefully you can find these on the Auction House or you'll need to farm Primal Fire in
Blades Edge Mountain and Earth in Netherstorm.
©secretgoldguide.com 19
Levels 375-450
If you are Alliance you can go to Valiance Keep to Sock Brightbolt and do most of your
crafting, while there, advertise Overcharged Capacitors for sale in general chat. Remember,
these are needed by level 70-72 players doing quests in Borean Tundra. Usually these
players won't want to travel to an Auction House just for a quest item, you can offer to fly
out there and charge something like 50g a pop. I made thousands of gold doing this right
after Wrath was released.

Inscription
The greatest benefit to leveling Inscription is the extremely powerful shoulder enchants.
They are only usable on your own shoulders but remain the most powerful in the game:
To level Inscription you will need to mill through a ton of herbs. On average it will cost you:
• Levels 1-75: 6-7 stacks of level 1-10 herbs (Bloodthistle, Peacebloom, Silverleaf and
Earthroot)
• Levels 75-100: 4-5 stacks of level 10-20 herbs (Briarthorn, Swiftthistle, Bruiseweed,
Stranglekelp and Mageroyal)
• Levels 100-150: 12-15 stacks of level 20-30 herbs (Wild Steelbloom, Grave Moss,
Kingsblood, and Liferoot)
• Levels 150-200: 16-19 stacks of level 30-40 herbs (Fadeleaf, Goldthorn, Khadgar's
Whiskers, and Wintersbite)
• Levels 200-250: 10-12 stacks of level 40-50 herbs (Firebloom, Purple Lotus, Arthas'
Tears, Sungrass, Blindweed, Ghost Mushroom, and Gromsblood)
• Levels 250-300: 9-11 stacks of level 50-60 herbs (Golden Sansam, Dreamfoil, Mountain
Silversage, Plaguebloom, and Icecap)
©secretgoldguide.com 21
• Levels 300-350: 12-13 stacks of level 60-70 herbs (Felweed, Ancient Lichen, Dreaming
Glory, Mana Thistle, Netherbloom, Nightmare Vine, Ragveil, and Terocone)
• Levels 350-435: 20-22 stacks of level 70-80 herbs (Goldclover, Tiger Lily, Adder's
Tongue, Fire Leaf, Icethorn and Lichbloom)
When you level Inscription, make sure you craft whatever glyphs are most valuable. The
glyphs in the tables are only one example of a glyph you can craft each level segment. Make
sure the glyph you craft is orange (100% chance to level), if possible.
