Sierra Wireless (SWIR, $13.38) shares are up 20% in December and have doubled
since the end of June. The company provides mobile-computing and machine-to-
machine (M2M) solutions.

In Q3, revenue rose 27% to $172.7 million, driven by 42% growth in the M2M
segment, which accounted for 44% of total revenue. During the quarter, Sierra
Wireless was awarded multiple OEM design wins in M2M—including large
opportunities with key customers in the automotive, payments, networking, energy
and consumer segments.

Mobile-computing revenue (56% of total) rose 18% thanks to continued strong

demand for the company’s dual-mode EV-DO/WiMAX products, including the
Overdrive mobile hotspot and the AirCard 250U. Sierra Wireless also announced its
first LTE (4G) products, a series of embedded modules covering all banding
combinations globally.

Will Sierra Wireless shares continue higher in 2011? We’ll be covering Sierra
Wireless in depth in the January 2011 issue of Tech-Stock Prospector.
