Aida directed by Giovanni Bottesini, was first performed at the Khedivial Opera House in Cairo on 24 December 1871,
conducted by Giovanni Bottesini, evening of December 24th, 1871, .Aida was commissioned by Ismail Pasha, Khedive
of Egypt, in November, 1869, the Viceroy of Egypt,asked Verdi to compose a hymn for the inauguration of the Suez
Canal.
