 Target validation.
 Phylogenetic analysis.
 Identification of the binding site.
 Lead identification and optimization using Ligand-Info and Schrodinger software suite
2009(Maestro 9.0).

MATERIALS AND METHODS

Target Identification
3.1 Retrieval of protein sequence
UniProt is the universal protein resource, a central repository of protein data created by
combining Swiss-Prot, TrEMBL and PIR. This makes it the world's most comprehensive
resource on protein information. The UniProt Consortium comprises the European
Bioinformatics Institute (EBI), the Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics (SIB), and the Protein
Information Resource (PIR). Until recently, EBI and SIB together produced Swiss-
Prot and TrEMBL, while PIR produced the Protein Sequence Database (PIR-PSD).
The human, epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) protein sequence was
accessed and retrieved from http://www.uniprot.org.html.
