What is the diff between k and c with respect to memory?

First of all, "k" alone as an alphabet is pronounced "kay" (a sounds like "maine") and "c" alone as an
alphabet is pronounced "see".

Do you want to know if "c" and "k" sound the same? Think of some words like cliff, kitten, kettle,
computer, camera, like. Pronounce these words and you will notice that both "c" and "k" are
pronounced the same as "k".

It is the same case if "c" and "k" are put together and are pronounced as "k" - click, pluck, tickle, lucky,
kick, yuck, wicker (and many words that have "c" and "k" together).

The difference between "c" and "k" is:

"C" is pronounced as "s" if it goes with the vowel letters, e and i. The rest of the vowel letters goes with c
and they are pronounced as "k".

AEIOU

Ca = pronounced as k Example: California

Ce = pronounced as s Example: Center
Ci = pronounced as s Example: City
Co = pronounced as k Example: Coke
Cu = pronounced as k Example: Cup

Not always. "K" will always have the same pronunciation while "C" can either provide an "S" or a "K"
sound, depending on the word and the following vowel. Also, they are used for different purposes and
are not interchangeable. (ex. "ch" and "nk") Sometimes they are even used together (ck)

'k' is always hard, as in kite, kitten and bike.

'c' can be hard, like a k, or soft, like an 's'.

Or with an h (ch) it is often like a 'j', but unvoiced, e.g. compare joke, with choke.
Or with an s (sc) the pronunciation can be 'sh', as in conscious / kon-shus /

Hard: comic / komic /; cat / kat /

Soft: certain / serten /; cigarette / sigaret /; also as an 's' in ice, twice ; mice.

Mixed: convince / konvinss /: ceramic / seramik /: citric / sitrik /; coccyx / kok-siks /

Examples: "Are you convinced that in the word certificate, the first c has an 's' sound and the
second c has an 'k' sound?"
