THE ROTARY CLUBS OF MAIDSTONE, DAWN PATROL & RIVERSIDE Present THE MAIDSTONE AND MID-KENT YOUNG MUSICIANS OF THE YEAR CONCERT - 2011 The Maidstone and Mid-Kent Young Musicians of the Year Awards provide an opportunity for eight of Maidstone and Mid-Kent's Young Musicians to give solo performances in concert condition before an audience at Kent Music. Astiey House, Maidstone on 6 May 2011 2. It is proposed that entrants should be of at least Grade 7 standard and their entry must be endorsed by a qualified music teacher. 3. The selection of entrants to perform at the Concert will be based primarily upon the standards of musical technique and interpretation displayed at the Preliminary Round 4, Entrants should prepare a contrasting Concert programme on instruments or voice lasting a maximum of 8 minutes. Entrants exceeding this time can expect to be penalised by the judges. A piano accompanist will be provided if required and a rehearsal opportunity w given prior to the Concert on the date of the Concert. 5. There will be a Preliminary Round held at the headquarters of t Kent Music at Astle House Hastings Road Maidstone on 1§ January 2011, time to be advised. All performers will be required to perform at this Preliminary Round from which will be chosen the eight finalists. The pieces to be performed at the Preliminary Round are to be the same pieces to be performed at the Final. 6. The Concert will be held on 6 May 2011, at Kent Music, Astley House, Maidstone commencing at 7.15 p.m. and the award will be decided on the night by a panel of Judges who are professional musicians 7. Entries should be returned on the form below not later than 10 January 2011. 8.
