AIR Permeability of the building ENVELOPE report Mark Witcher Objective: To ascertain the air tightness of the above building / dwelling. Test was conducted in accordance with ATTMA TSI adopting method B ofBS EN 13829:2001. Measurements of flow and pressure were recorded on at least 10 different pressures, by using a hand held micro-manometer.
Prior to testing the average of positive and negative values recorded over 60 seconds were averaged to ensure that the pressure difference between external and internal did not exceed +1- 5Pa.
Measurements of airflow rates and corresponding indoor outdoor pressure difference over a range of fan flows were taken and recorded. This was by pressurisingldepressurising the building using a calibrated fan which was fitted to the main entrance of the unit/dwelling.
Post testing, the averages of positive and negative values recorded over 60 seconds were averaged to ensure that the pressure difference between external and internal did not exceed +/- SPa.
The test was conducted in accordance with ATTMA TSI adopting method B ofBS EN 13829:2001.
The air leakage rate V L, can be calculated using equation (8).
V L = C L (the induced pressure difference, in Pa) C L is the air leakage coefficient, in m3 / (h.Pa)
C L = C env (Pe/Poj l-n from BS EN 13829 (Page 12)
Procedure
Once the engineer is satisfied with the weather conditions, wind speed and has established the static pressure readings from the building and the external environment pressure levels do not exceed +1- SPa, prior to switching on fans and pressurising equipment.
The building was pressurisedl depressurised to a difference in excess of SOPa to the outside. Measurements of flow and pressure were recorded on at least 10 different pressures, by using a hand held micro-manometer and recorded on the engineer's job sheet. The manometer also has the function to calculate the leakage using averages across the readings.
In order to meet the current building regulation requirement your 'ASSUMED' Air Permeability used in calculating your Dwelling Emission Rate (DER) should not exceed 10m3/(h.m2) at a pressure of SOPa. The report is then generated at the offices.
