theoretically the Efficiency of constant volume cycle is greater than constant

pressure cycle.
*For high efficiency of a turbine, high temperature and high efficiency of variou
s components are required.
In constant volume cycle valves are necessary to isolate the combustion chambers
from the compressor and the turbine.
nevertheless in constant pressure cycle the valves weren't necessary and hence w
as the scope for future development was
visualised.
In the turbines the 3 components(the compressor, turbine and the combustion chamb
ers) are all individually designed, developed and
tested unlike in the reciprocating engine wherein all the compression, combustion
and expansion take place in the same chamber.
In order to increase the efficiency number of turbines and compressors can also
be used with proper positioning of the
intercoolers b/w the compressors and by reheating combustion chambers b/w the tu
rbines.this improves the power o/p and efficiency
at the expense of added weight and complexity.
