1. How would you define “youth”?


a. Before the readings many of us thought of youth as an
age, being 18 and younger.
b. American youth is based on age rather than experience

2. What are your initial impressions of youth in Italy?


a. The younger generations are introduced to older influences
b. Very open with pda
c. Relaxed and composed
d. Forward
e. Allowed to wander freely, spend more time outside
f. More family oriented

3. What do you see as the main forces that influence youth identity
in Italy?
a. Granted privileges therefore disciplined (instilled)
b. Clothing/ dress = status

4. What burning questions do you have about understanding youth


in Italy?
a. Do we give the wrong privileges to youth in America
(drinking, smoking, etc)?
b. How emigrational youth can socialize and develop within
Italian culture?
(youth is more or less a state of mind)
