Lieutenant General Farooq Ahmad Khan (Retired),
Chairman National Disaster Management Authority was commissioned in Pakistan Army in 1971. In his illustrious career he has held various command, staff and instructional appointments to include command of an Armoured Division. He has also held the coveted appointments of Director Military Operations at GHQ and Director General Operations and Plans at the Joint Staff Headquarters. He has been Chairman Prime Minister’s Inspection Commission.
After 8 October 2005 earthquake, he was appointed the Federal Relief
Commissioner of Pakistan with the responsibility of coordinating, managing and implementing the largest rescue and relief operation in the country’s history. He has raised National Disaster Management Authority keeping his experience of managing relief operation post 8th October earthquake and is presently its first Chairman.
