‘The percentile issue
(On our Wednesday class I've made the following two claims.
Claim 1. zy is the ;4; - 100th percentile of the data, according to our rule of the percentile calculation. You
can easily make sure that this is the case.
Claim 2. Now let p be a number between 4; - 100 and + - 100 (see the Fig. below). The p-th percentile
calculated by the definition is

You can make sure that the point (p,r) lies on the straight line passing through the points (2_, 4; 100) and
