Conventions of a music Magazine

It is clear that when a magazine is produced the media portray the content in a specific way. The usual
conventions of a music magazine would be as shown:

On this magazine the name of the magazine does take some dominance to the whole page. However it
seems as if the icons name would appear to be the main feature which is in massive bold red writing
allowing it to stand out more. The icon that is used would be recognisable to many people and the fact
that the model is using eye contact would catch many people’s attention.

The colour scheme of red, black, white and grey is also used, which can also be seen to fit in with
what the model is wearing.

Names of other people are used on the side to portray the way in which there are other people in the
magazine that the audience might like. This shows that it will not just be based around one icon but
also others which the target audience may favour. Many people may not like Madonna so they have to
try and appeal to everyone in their target audience.

The magazine also has a fun quote below Madonna’s picture showing that this magazine will not just
be boring but will draw people in by showing its humorous side.

The bar code is on the side of the magazine and this is a convention which is displayed on every
magazine. The price is also somewhere but might even be shown very small to indicate ‘this
magazines worth it no matter how much it is.’ It also, like many other magazines has a 70 page
special inside for free
