Prof. Gomez

1. Design a resistive voltage divider with the input resistance 10k and divider ratio 1:π,
i.e. Find R1 and R2.

2. Consider the following voltage divider circuit.

a. Write down the expression for the quantity ‘G’, the
phasor ratio as a function of R,L,C and ω.

b. In general, assuming finite values for R,L and C, what

are the limiting values of the ratio for DC (ω=0) and

for very high frequencies (ω=infinite)?

c. Suppose that, R = 1kΩ, C = 1µF, L = 10mH , plot the magnitude of G(ω) for ω =0 to
108 Hz on a semilog scale and a log-log scale (base 10). Hint: For semilog scale, calculate
G for ω =0,1,10,100,1000, etc. Use y-axis=G, x-axis=log10(ω). For log-log scale,
calculate log10(G) for ω =0,1,10,etc. Use y-xis=log10(G) and x-axis=log10(ω).

3. Find the equivalent impedance between points A and B for the circuits given below.
Show all steps.
a.

b.

4. Using symmetry find the equivalent impedance across A and B for

the given circuit.

5. Using Superposition principle, find the current i flowing through

the 50 kΩ resistor.
