APFIDAVIT
1, Witness No. 13, MAKE OATH AND SAY AS FOLLOW:
1. have personal knowledge of the facts and matters hereinafter deposed to save and
except where the same are stated to be made upon information and belief and where so stated I
verily believe them to be tue
2. Lam aware ofthe order of the Chief Justice made September 24, 2010 and I elect to avail
‘myself ofthe protections authorized by that order.
3. Tam currently a resident ofthe FLDS community in Short Creek, on the border of Utah
and Arizona.

5. I grew up in Sandy, Utah on a five acre farm. ‘There are seven children in my biological
family. My father was married to three women. My mother was the first wife of my father.
When I was eight years old, my father married a third wife. My father’s third wife was not
happy in the marriage, and after several years, she asked to have the marriage ended. She
experienced no problems in ending the marriage, and she later remarried into another plural
situation and had six more children with her new husband, She has told me that she is now very
happy.6. My father grew up asa plural child; he had two mothers. After high school, he went 10
see the prophet. The prophet asked him to go to school to be a dentist. My father did so, and
graduated top in his from a dental schoo! in California.
7. Growing up, I had the opportunity to travel extensively. I traveled to France and
Holland, among other countries. When I was in France, | attended a musi festival and we went
to other celebrations while there. Growing up, | also acted as my father’s personal secretary and

my father’s products, In the evenings, after the conferences were over, we would go out and
have fun, I have had a significant opportunity to experience life outside of the FLDS.

9. Iwas 19 years old when I got married, and my husband was 22 years old. [ have known
sy husband almost my entire life since his sister was one of my best friends as we were growing
up. When I was told I was going to marry my husband, I was a litle disappointed, but, I had
total confidence in the Prophet and his decision. 1 actually fel the system has been perfect: my
husband has been very considerate of me; he has never tied to force me to do anything. My
hhusband and [ were married right away and then our courship began. It was several months
before our relationship became that of husband and wife. My husband has always treated me
with kindness. In fact, my husband has never even raised his voice to me. My husband also

11. know of many people who have left the FLDS community, including family members,
and no one has had any problems in leaving the FLDS community. If T wanted to leave the
FLDS community, I could get in my car and drive away. I do not believe that anyone would
interfere and I could call my father, who has left the FLDS community, and golive with him. It
‘would be my decision to leave. But, [do not wish to leave because [am truly happy. Tove my
life. Tlove what I do every day. ‘This year, [ am teaching 8° grade. I work a lot with the
teenagers; they are wonderful. My life is never boring!
12. My husband has four siblings who have left the FLDS community, My husband had a
sister that left when she was 18 years old. She was my good friend atthe time. She wanted to
leave, so she did. She stayed in close contact with her mother for a long time. Two of my
Ihusband’s brothers left about one year Inter. fer my husband and I were married, we actually
‘moved into an apartment with one of those brothers and his girlfriend to try and help them out
financially. My husband’ forth brother who has left the FLDS community, had a wife that was
sealed to him by the Prophet. He and his wife decided they didn’t want to live this way and they
‘moved out of town,
13, also have family members who have left the FLDS community, One of my brothers
‘was happily married by the Prophet. He loved his wife very much, but she did not want to liveplural marriage, even though my brother, atthe time, believed in it. My’ brother didn’t want 10
lose his wife, so they left the community together. I still had a lotto do with them for some time.
In addition to this brother, my m other let my father when I was 15 years old. My mother took
my younger brother and sisters with her. [have been in contact with my mother and my brother,
but we do not talk very often as our worlds are very different.
14. Living according to the precepts of the FLS faith has given me more self-confidence. 1
feel, because of my faith, [have a strong self-identity; Iam very sure of who T am and I know
where I'm going in life
My sister wife is my best friend. We live in the same house, We are very comfortable with each
other. We have the same goals. Sometimes, we wil stay up late, just talking about our children
and our lives. We are always trying to improve our home. We love each others” children. If she
is up most of the night with her baby, I'l take the baby so she can get some rest, She does not

cach other and we are very close
15. Tam not sheltered and 1 have access to information and people outside of the FLDS
