Few Cases In India

 Bhagalpur – 7 July 2009: Unidentified armed men kidnap contractor and his
assistant at gun point from the city centre and contacted the contractor’s father
demanding a ransom of Rs. 2 million.
 Mumbai – 28 June 2009: Body of a 14 year old school boy who was
kidnapped for ransom on June 25, found. Boy’s father had received calls from
the abductors demanding Rs. 2 million. The father could not afford the ransom
in full and negotiated with the kidnappers. During negotiations conducted
under police guidance the father’s cell phone ran out of power which was
interpreted by the kidnappers as the end of negotiations. Police believe the boy
was killed as he could identify the kidnappers.
 Bharuch – 26 June 2009 – Student in class 3rd was released by kidnappers
after his parents paid a ransom of Rs. 300,000. Initially the kidnapppers had
demanded a Rs. 35 lacs ransom for his safe release but following negotiations
lowered their demand.
 Hyderabad - July 2007: Satyam Computers executive Vedula Satyanarayana
was kidnapped by his driver for ransom demand of INR 20L.
 Assam - July 2007: death of the abducted Food Corporation of India (FCI)
official P.C. Ram.
 Noida – Nov 2006: Three-year-old Anant Gupta, the son of Adobe India CEO
Naresh Gupta was kidnapped outside his house
