    LOGON

    Introduction

    There are various ways of offering security to desktop computers such


    as windows passwords, BIOS passwords, however none of them ensures a
    fullproof security.
    Windows password can be hacked, BIOS password can be deleted by
    removing the battery,
    So to provide a much assured security to the computers some effective method
    should be implemented.
    According ancient Greek scripts BIOMETRICS means study of life.
    Biometrics studies commonly include fingerprint, face, iris, voice, signature, and
    hand geometry recognition and verification. Many other modalities are in various
    stages of development and assessment. Among these available biometric traits
    Finger Print proves to be one of the best traits providing good mismatch ratio and
    also reliable. The present scenario to operate a bank locker is with locks which
    are having keys. By this we can’t say that we are going to provide good security
    to our lockers. To provide perfect security and to make our work easier, we are
    taking the help of two different technologies viz. EMBEDDED SYSTEMS and
    BIOMETRICS.
    The Proposed System
    In our system there will be a finger print scanner (along with the finger print
    module) attached with Computer.

    All those users which are authorized by the administrator will have to first of
    all enroll them in the system by showing their finger to the Finger print
    scanner.

    In our system every user can store two difference finger prints and can use
    any of them to get the access to that computer.

    For using the Computer, after the Power switched on in the PC Hardware
    our software will pop up and will ask the user for his or her finger print.

    After scanning the finger print it will match it with the already stored finger
    prints in its memory.

    If the current finger print of the user matches than the access to the
    Desktop is given to the user.

    And if there is no match condition then the system will automatically send
    an alert SMS to the administrator mobile number.
