EtherChannels

Understanding EtherChannels
 EtherChannels consist of individual links
bundled into a single logical link.
 Provides fault tolerant high speed links
between switches, routers, and servers.
 Can provide full duplex bandwidth up to
800 Mbps.
Understanding EtherChannels

interfaces.
Understanding EtherChannels
 You must manually assign an interface
to an etherchannel using the channel-
group command.
 Each etherchannel has a logical port
channel interface numbered from 1-6.
PAgP
 Port Aggregation Protocol
 Dynamically groups similarly configured
interfaces into a single logical link
PAgP
 PAgP has three modes: on, auto, and
desirable.

 Network devices are either PAgP

physical learners or aggregate learners.
