Contents of Portfolio (Examples)

Introduction
The following contains some examples of documents that are normally submitted to a
supervisor as evidence for:

1. Seeking approval to commence an activity and sign-off in the logbook;


2. Gaining credit time for a completed activity and sign-off in the logbook;
3. Documentation of work experience in a student’s journal

Contents of Evidential Portfolio

Seeking approval to commence an activity


1. Letter from provider/employer describing the activity to be undertaken by the
student, and the duration.
2. Letter/email from the provider/employer stating that the student has been accepted
into the activity (e.g. Venture Cup, course or subject).
3. Letter from provider/employer describing the project topic provided to the student
as an industry based project (e.g. Activity 5).

Gaining credit time for a completed activity


1. Letters/emails from provider/employer stating that the activity has been
successfully completed.
2. Certificates, statement of results for any courses/subjects taken by the student.
3. *Reports prepared by the student about a project, evaluation, study, or
experiments.
4. *Soft or hard copies of designs, computer models, and simulations created and
performed by the student.
5. *Pictures of prototypes, test equipment made/assembled or designed by the
student.

*Reports and designs and other information from the work experience may in some
cases be subject to confidentiality and cannot be made available to the student by the
company.

Summary of Journal
One page summary of student’s journal to be included in the portfolio at the
completion of the 12 weeks work experience.
