Four Essentials for Finishing Well 

As we think of think of the endurance of the saints, of enduring to the end and finishing well, there is
no better example in Scripture than that of the apostle Paul.

6 Sapagkat dumating na ang panahon ng pagpanaw ko sa buhay na ito. Ako'y mistulang isang handog
na ibinubuhos sa dambana.  7 Pinagbuti ko ang aking pakikipaglaban, natapos ko na ang dapat kong
takbuhin, at nanatili akong tapat sa pananampalataya.  8 Makakamtan ko na ang koronang nakalaan sa
mga matuwid. Sa Araw na iyon, ang Panginoon na siyang makatarungang Hukom, ang siyang
magpuputong sa akin ng korona; hindi lamang sa akin, kundi sa lahat ng nananabik sa kanyang
pagbabalik.

10 Iniwan na ako ni Demas dahil sa pagkahumaling niya sa sanlibutan; pumunta siya sa Tesalonica. Si
Cresente naman ay nagpunta sa Galacia, at si Tito sa Dalmacia

Here were two men who had ministered together – Paul and Demas – mentor and mentoree. One
endured and finished the race. The other man peeled off, deserted his mentor, and was never heard
from again.

1. Daily Time of Focused Personal Communion with God

2. Daily Appropriation of the Gospel
3. Daily Commitment to God as a living sacrifice
4. Firm Belief in the Sovereignty and the Love of God

These four things from our perspective is what we should do or believe. But standing above them all is
the grace of God.

“But by the grace of God I am what I am”

1 Cor. 15:10

1. Daily Time of Focused Personal Communion with God

Demas didn’t just wake up one day and make a 90-degree turn. That doesn’t happen. Demas
drifted little by little towards the attractions of the world. And if you and I do not practice this
daily focused time of communion with God, we will find ourselves also drifting in the wrong
direction.
