Stephen Randall calls on Federal Government to support Calgary City Council's decision

on the Airport Underpass

Calgary – Stephen Randal, Liberal Candidate for Calgary Centre – North, would like to take this
opportunity to congratulate Calgary City Council on their decision on the Calgary Airport
Underpass.

World class cities, such as Calgary, deserve having a quick and convenient access to the
International Airport by Transit. City Council has done exactly that. The Calgary Airport
Underpass was the only road to get LRT to the Airport from the existing Northeast Calgary LRT
line.

However, more work still needs to be done. The federal government must provide its share of
funding for the Calgary Airport Underpass. The Airport Underpass is vital to the economic
success of our city and country. As such the Federal Government has a vested stake in this
project and as such they must provide their share of funding for the Airport Underpass.

The Airport Underpass today costs about $295 million but to build it later will cost $1 Billion.
We must do the right thing and build the underpass now rather than later.
