“It’s beautiful,” Dalila breathed as they


stood looking at the gold treasure chest.
“Careful,” Antonio cautioned as Michael
lifted the lid and they peered inside. 7 8
“It’s empty!” They exclaimed together.
“All that work for nothing!” Michael
said glumly.
“I don’t know, Michael,” Dalila began. “Finding a treasure would
have been great, but we did have fun figuring out the clues.”

“We learned stuff too—we looked at life from different
perspectives, faced our fears, became better friends . . . ”
Antonio listed.
“I guess so . . .” Michael murmured, still not convinced. “So,
now what?”
“After all this hard work we deserve a 2 1 Father’s Day

break,” Antonio said, turning to leave.
“I’m going to go write about our
adventure in my journal.”
“I think I’ll take a nap,”
Dalila yawned.
