Raw Materials For ach production run, you will be given a "raw material word or phrase" The letters found in the vord or phrase serve as the rou materials available to produce new words in sentences. The same letter may appear only as often in a manufactured word as it appears in the Yaw-material word or phrase; for example, “organization” has two o's. Thus "zoo" is legitimate, but zoology is not. tt haa too many o's. 2. Raw-material letters can be used again in different manufactured words. 3. Procedure step 1: 10 Minute pesign your organization using as many group members as you ten tit fe produce your "words-in-sentences". There are Bany potential SGyb of organizing. Since some are more efficient than ‘others, you may want to consider the following: 1. what is your company's objective and how will you achieve that objective? 2, wnat division of labor,.authority and responsibility is most appropriate given your objective and your task? 3. Which group members are most qualified to perform certain tasks? Assign one member of your group to serve on the Quality control Review Board. This person may also participate in the production runs. Step 2: 10 Minutes - Production Run 1 ‘The instructor will hand each WIS company an envelope containing a raw material word or phras i unces “Beqi Production" open the envelope and manufacture as many words-in- sentences as pessible. You have 10 minutes. When the instructor announces “Stop Production", you have 30 seconds to deliver your output to the Quality Control Review Soard. Output received after 30 seconds will not be counted. Step 3: 15 Minutes The Quality Control Review Board will review output. The output for each company will be written on the board. While the QcR board is meeting, each group’ should discuss what happened during Production Run 1 and whether reorganization is needed for Production Run 2. Step 4: 10 Minutes - Production Run 2 ‘The instructor will hand each WIS company an envelope with a new raw material word or phrase. Proceed as in Step 2. step 5: 10 Minutes The Quality Control Review Board will again review output. while they are doing this, each WIS company should prepare a chart showing its structure for both production runs. We will use these charts to discuss the results of the exercise.
