2011

Dear EY Parents,

Next week, as you are hopefully already aware, we will be celebrating Book Week at NIST. There will
be further information for you in this week’s NIST News. We start the celebrations early with a
session with renowned children’s author Jack Gantos on Friday. This will take place in the Theatre
exclusively for EY at 1.20pm and you are most welcome to join us!

Next Wed. March 2nd, we will be celebrating Dr Seuss’s birthday with a focus on his many wonderful
stories. The children are invited to come dressed as the whacky characters from Dr Seuss’s books.
Stripy socks here and a stripy hat there, a tail and you’ve got a costume! A super easy way to find
pictures of characters is to use seussville.com Here’s the link…
http://www.seussville.com/#/characters It really is a fantastic site and easy to work out but takes a
few minutes to load…worth a little wait…
or come and browse the Dr Seuss books on display in the library.

We will hold a Dr Seuss Character Parade for the children around the EY Centre at 10.00am and
again, we would love you to attend and cheer them on. We finish by then cutting and enjoying a
Birthday cake in honor of Dr Seuss’s Birthday.

Hope to see you Friday and Tuesday if you are fortunate to have the time,

Warm regards

Jennifer
