Hurst company ranks
high on growth list

When looking through the
private-company ranks for a
fast-growing Texas company,
|, you need look no further than
Hurst.
Plant Technical Services
leads all other Texas compa-
nies on the new national rank-
ing by Inc. magazine of pri-
vate firms on the fast track,
weighing in at No. 24.
Company founder and Chief
Executive Amin Bishara cred-
its the company’s success to
hard work and determination
on the part of his employees.
“We don’t bother about be-
ing clever or geniuses,” he
said. “We all focus on the
company’s goals, and inspira-
tion helps us all do the right
jobs.”
The company provides engi-
neers, technicians and com-
: puter specialists to high-tech,
| companies and employs 200
industrial and manufacturing
workers.

leads a Texas delegation of 32
companies that made the mag-
azine’s Inc. 500 list. The com-
pany reported a 7,563 percent
increase in sales, to $8.89 mil-
lion in 1989 from $116,000 in
1985. .
The list appears in the De-
cember issue, which will hit
newsstands Tuesday.
“The company began in
1985 by the founder borrowing
the money to get started from
his future employees,” said
Tom Anable, vice president of
finance and administration.
He said the company’s gross
sales have reached $18 million
a year.
California led all states with
88 companies on the Inc. 500
list, followed by Texas. No. 3
Massachusetts had 28, fol-
lowed by Virginia with 28,
Pennsylvania with 27 and
New York with 23.
