Juradism

• Judaism is the "religion, philosophy, and way of life" of the Jewish people.
Originating in the Hebrew Bible and explored in later texts such as the Talmud, it is
considered by Jews to be the expression of the covenantal relationship God
developed with the Children of Israel.

• Judaism claims a historical continuity spanning more than 3,000 years. It is one of
the oldest monotheistic religions, and the oldest to survive into the present day.

• In 2010, the world Jewish population was estimated at 13.4 million, or roughly
0.2% of the total world population. About 42% of all Jews reside in Israel and
about 42% reside in the United States and Canada, with most of the remainder
living in Europe.

• Many aspects of Judaism have also directly or indirectly influenced secular Western
ethics and civil law.
History
• Circa 2000 BCE, the G-d of the ancient Israelites established a divine covenant
with Abraham, making him the patriarch of many nations. The term Abrahamic
Religions is derived from his name. These are the three or four major religions
which trace their roots back to Abraham: Judaism, Christianity, Islam and the
Bahai’s faith.

• The original tribal organization was converted into a kingdom by Samuel; its first
king was Saul. The second king, David, established Jerusalem as the religious and
political center. The third king, Solomon built the first temple there.

• Division into the Northern kingdom of Israel and the Southern kingdom of Judah
occurred shortly after the death of Solomon. The temple was destroyed. Some Jews
returned from captivity under the Babylonians and started to restore the temple
