Topic: Sounds Around Us

Focus: (1.1) Listening and speaking

Content Standard:
1.1.By the end of the 6-year primary schooling, pupils will be able to pronounce
words and speak confidently with the correct stress, rhythm and intonation.

Learning Standard:
1.1.1 Able to listen and respond to stimulus given with guidance :
a) environmental sounds

Objectives: By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to


a) Name the animals
b) Make sound of the animals

Activities:
1. Teacher shows a picture of animals.
2. Ask Wh questions
Eg: How is the sound of a cow?
Moo…..
3. Introduce the sound of the animals.
4. Sing a song. ‘All Day Long.’
5. Teacher sings and pupils follow.
6. Guessing game. Teacher make the sound and pupils guess the
animals.

Picture of the animals and lyrics of the song.

Content Standard:

linear texts.

2.1.2 Able to recognise and articulate initial, medial and the final sounds in
single syllable words within given context:

Objectives: By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to


a) Recognise and articulate single syllable words.

1.) Pupils read the lyrics from the text book.
2.) Sing the previous song.

Objectives: By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to


a) Say, make the sounds and trace the line.

1.) Teacher revises previous lesson with pupils.
2.) Pupils read the alphabets cards.
3.) Pupils say and make the sounds.
4.) Pupils trace the lines.
5.) Pupils colour the pictures.

Content Standard:

organize and produce creative works for enjoyment.

Learning Standard:
4.3.1 Able to produce simple creative works with guidance based on nursery
rhymes.

Objectives: By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to


a) identify the sounds of animals by pasting the correct pictures.

Activities:
1. Pupils state the alphabets learned before.
2. Pupils match the animal pictures to the correct alphabets at
blackboard.
3. Pupils read the alphabets cards.
4. Pupils cut and paste the pictures, trace and say the sound.

Animal pictures, alphabets cards and activity book (page 4)

1.Pupils able to their prior knowledge in recognizing and
