UNIT 1 / Day 1
Content Standard:
1.1.By the end of the 6-year primary schooling, pupils will be able to pronounce
words and speak confidently with the correct stress, rhythm and intonation.
Learning Standard:
1.1.1 Able to listen and respond to stimulus given with guidance :
a) environmental sounds
Activities:
1. Teacher shows a picture of animals.
2. Ask Wh questions
Eg: How is the sound of a cow?
Moo…..
3. Introduce the sound of the animals.
4. Sing a song. ‘All Day Long.’
5. Teacher sings and pupils follow.
6. Guessing game. Teacher make the sound and pupils guess the
animals.
Teaching aids:
Picture of the animals and lyrics of the song.

UNIT 1/ Day 2
Content Standard:
1.1.By the end of the 6-year primary schooling, pupils will be able to apply
knowledge of sounds of letters to recognise words in linear and non-
linear texts.
Learning Standard:
2.1.2 Able to recognise and articulate initial, medial and the final sounds in
single syllable words within given context:
Activities:
1.) Pupils read the lyrics from the text book.
2.) Sing the previous song.
3.) Palmanism game. ‘Think before you say.’
4.) Pupils read the alphabet cards.
Teaching aids:
Lyrics of the song and alphabet cards.

UNIT 1/ Day 3
Content Standard:
3.1 By the end of the 6-year primary schooling, pupils will be able to
form letters and words in neat legible print including cursive writing.
Learning Standard:
3.1.1 Able to demonstrate fine motor control of hands and fingers by: ( b- h)
Activities:
1.) Teacher revises previous lesson with pupils.
2.) Pupils read the alphabets cards.
3.) Pupils say and make the sounds.
4.) Pupils trace the lines.
5.) Pupils colour the pictures.

UNIT 1/Day 4
Content Standard:
4.3. By the end of the 6-year primary schooling, pupils will be able to plan,
organize and produce creative works for enjoyment.
Learning Standard:
4.3.1 Able to produce simple creative works with guidance based on nursery
rhymes.
Activities:
1. Pupils state the alphabets learned before.
2. Pupils match the animal pictures to the correct alphabets at
blackboard.
3. Pupils read the alphabets cards.
4. Pupils cut and paste the pictures, trace and say the sound.
