What Does Paid-Up Capital Mean?


The total amount of shareholder capital that has been paid in full by shareholders.

Definition
The amount of money that has been received by shareholders who have completely
paid for their purchased shares. This would not include any shares that have been bid
on, but not yet purchased.

Dividends
A dividend is a portion of a company's earnings that

is returned to shareholders. Dividends provide an added incentive (in


the form of a return on your investment) to own stock in stable
companies even if they are not experiencing much growth. Many
companies -- mature and young, large and small -- pay a regular dividend
to their stockholders.

A mutual fund is a professionally-managed type of collective investment scheme


that pools money from many investors to buy securities (stocks, bonds, short-
term money market instruments, and/or other securities).[
