BOIL WATER ORDER
Boil Water Due to Loss of Pressure
In Affected Area of the Endicott Water System
93/04/2011 10:48 FAX
What happened?
At about 4 AM on 3/4/2011 our water system lost pressure due to a major main line
break on Route 26 past Ann G McGuinness School. Approximately 100 services will be with out
water. AGM will have water. The affected area is Union Center Highway north of AGM, Payne Rd,
Lake Ave, Elsie Dr, Sandra Dr, and Lower Leon Dr helow Ellen Dr. They will have no water most
of the day. When the distribution pipes and mains lose pressure it inereases the chance that
untreated water and harmful microbes could enter the system. IF yow live in the affected area
you will need to follow the boil water procedures.
What should I do?
DO NOT DRINK THE WATER WITHOUT BOILING IT FIRST. Bring all water to
x boil, let it boil for one minute, and let it cool before using, or ust bottled water
certified for sale by the New York State Department of Health. Boiled or bottled
water should be used for drinking, muking ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and
food preparation until further notice. Boiling kills most bacteria and other organisms
in the water.
Harmful microbes in drinking water can cause diarrhea, cramps, nausca, headaches, of
other symptoms. They may pose a special health risk for infants, some elderly, and people
with severely compromised immune systems. The symptoms above arc not just caused by
organisms in drinking water. If you experience aay of these symptoms and they persist, you
nay Want to seek medical advice.
What is being done?
We are repairing the break in the main line
