After travelling to Hutchins, Texas, both Dykes and Marano ~ wavelled back to Dyke's residence located in Mesquite, Texas. A search of Beltran’s and Dyke’s residence revealed that the carpet had been cleaned, but streaks of brown and red color, the appearance of blood, were underneath the carpet. The items seized were submitted to the Dallas County Southwestern Institute of Forensic Science, (SWIFS), to check for DNA to confirm for human blood. On December 31, 2020, a black 2014 Audi that was previously registered to suspect Dykes and Beltran and known to have been driven by Beltran at the time of the offense was searched by NYSP investigators after it was discovered that the vehicle had been transported to New York. During the search of the 2014 black Audi that was conducted by NYSP, concrete material found in the rear wheel well of the vehicle appeared to match the same type/color of concrete used at the concrete plant where suspect Dykes and Marano show to have travelled on the date/night of the offense. On January 29, 2021, lead Detective C. Ramirez #7386, received information from SWIFS that they have collected DNA evidence, (blood) from one of the carpets and pads from what was believed to be Beltran’s bedroom.
