Chinese wisdom!
‫هذه ق صة جميله منأمثا لا لحكمة‬
‫ا لصينيه‬

 ‫كان عند إمرأه‬ An elderly Chinese
‫صينيه مسنه إنائين‬ woman had two
‫كبيرين تنقل بهما‬ large pots, each
‫ وتحملهما‬،‫الماء‬ hung on the ends
‫مربوطين بعمود‬ of a pole, which
‫خشبى على كتيفيها‬ she carried across
her neck.
One of the pots had ‫وكان أحد اإلنائين‬
a crack in it while ‫به شرخ واإلناء‬
the other pot was ‫اآلخر بحالة تامه‬
perfect and always
‫والينقص منه شئ‬
delivered a full
portion of water. ‫من الماء‬
 ‫وفى كل مرة كان‬ At the end of the
‫اإلناء المشروخ‬ long walk from
‫يصل إلى نهاية‬ the stream to the
‫المطاف من النهر‬ house, the cracked
‫إلى المنزل وبه‬ pot arrived only
half full.
‫نصف كمية الماء‬
‫فقط‬
For a full two years ‫ولمدة سنتين‬
this went on daily, ‫كاملتين كان هذا‬
with the woman ‫يحدث مع السيدة‬
bringing home only ‫ حيث‬،‫الصينية‬
one and a half pots ‫كانت تصل منزلها‬
of water.
‫بإناء واحد مملوء‬
‫ونصف‬
‫ كان اإلناء‬،‫وبالطبع‬ Of course, the perfect
‫السليم مزهواً بعمله‬ pot was proud of its
‫الكامل‬ accomplishments.
 ‫وكان اإلناء‬
But the poor
cracked pot was ً‫المشروخ محتقرا‬
ashamed of its ‫لنفسه لعدم قدرته‬
own imperfection, ‫وعجزه عن إتمام‬
and miserable that ‫ماهو متوقع منه‬
it could only do
half of what it had
been made to do.
‫وفى يوم من األيام‬ After 2 years of
‫وبعد سنتين من‬ what it perceived
‫المرارة واإلحساس‬ to be bitter
‫بالفشل تكلم اإلناء‬ failure, it spoke
‫المشروخ مع‬ to the woman
‫السيدة الصينية‬ one day by the
stream.
“I am ashamed ‫”أنا خجل جداَ من‬
of myself, ‫نفسى ألنى عاجز‬
because this ‫ولدى شرخ يسرب‬
crack in my side ‫الماء على الطريق‬
causes water to “‫للمنزل‬
leak out all the
way back to
your house.”
 ‫فأبتسمت المرأه‬ The old woman
‫الصينيه وقالت ”ألم‬ smiled, “Did you
‫تالحظ الزهور التى‬ notice that there
are flowers on your
‫على جانب الطريق‬
side of the path,
‫من ناحيتك وليست‬ but not on the
‫على الجانب‬ other pot’s side?
“‫اآلخر؟‬
That’s because I have ‫أنا أعلم تماما ً عن‬
always known about ‫الماء الذى ُيفقد‬
your flaw, so I
‫منك ولهذا الغرض‬
planted flower seeds
on your side of the ‫غرست البذور على‬
path, and every day ‫طول الطريق من‬
while we walk back, ‫جهتك حتى ترويها‬
you water them.” ‫فى طريق عودتك‬
‫للمنزل‬
“For two years I have been able to
pick these beautiful flowers to
decorate the table.”
‫”ولمدة سنتين متواصلتين قطفت من هذه‬
“‫الزهور الجميلة ألزين بها منزلى‬
Without you being just the way you
are, there would not be this beauty
to grace the house.”

‫ما لم تكن أنت بما‬

‫ ما كان لى‬،‫أنت فيه‬
‫أن أجد هذا الجمال‬
‫يزين منزلى‬
Each of us has his own unique flaw…
‫كل ٌ منا لديه ضعفه‬
But it’s the cracks and flaws we each have
that make our lives together so very
interesting and rewarding.
‫ولكن شروخاتنا وضعفاتنا تضع حيا ُتنا معا ً بطريقة‬
‫عجيبة ومثيرة‬
You’ve just got to take each person for
what they are and look for the good in
them.
‫يجب علينا جميعا ً أن نتقبل بعضنا البعض على مانحن‬
‫فيه وللنظر لما هو حسنٌ لدينا‬
 To all of my crackpot friends, have a
great day and remember to smell the
flowers, on your side of the path.
‫لكل أحبائى الذين يشعرون بالعجز أو النقص أتمنى لكم‬
‫يوما ً عظيما ً وأشتموا الزهور التى بجانبكم من الطريق‬
