BOM

Limitation
• Created BOM is NOT really representing the actual product structure of FGs as
Beans are comprised of blend of variants based on quality criteria. Navision BOM
will be only until Variants level.
• Therefore, BOM can not be fully used in MPS/MRP for comprehensive supply &
demand analysis of Beans. Navision is only support until variants level.
• Standard BOM Navision will not be able to separate cost of Butter and Cake (by-
product). No product cost per line is required by Finance. Finance has its own
method on determining the standard cost.
Advantage
• Can derive product cost per product line
• Can use MPS/MRP for planning of Packaging
• Variance between BOM calculation & actual
Recommendation.
1. Not use of BOM at this time.
2. (in future) Develop Navision or find add-on so that it will be able to capture product
structure until quality level of Beans. BOM or precisely Recipe will then auto
generated from Blending report (no user maintenance as there are a lot of possible
blending)
MPS/MRP
Limitation
• Excel (current) is more flexible. Navision will not be able to have historical/changed
plan/move screen etc. Navision may not user friendly compared to Excel.
• Planning is only for 3 FGs and Beans supply & demand will only captured at variants
level. It will not be able to be use as a guideline in requisition plan of Beans until
quality level.
• It will not plan for Bean Blending.
• MARS only have one line of production. Not required complex scheduling.
• Navision can not open two planning screen at the same time.
Advantage
• System planning of packaging. However, packaging value is relatively small compare
to Beans
Recommendation
1. Not use MPS/MRP at this time.
2. (in future) Develop Navision or find add-on so that it will be able to auto generate
BOM/Recipe from Blending reports then we can use MPS/MRP.
