New Band New Life!

As the band North Sky shoot to success with their ironically named first album
‘Greatest Hits’ reaching number 1 in the rock charts only 2 weeks after its release,
Zoe Pacific, 19, is the most desired girl around. As the lead singer of the band, Zoe,
was set to be iconic with her bright hair and distinctive clothes. She will be a huge
inspiration for years to come and we have an exclusive interview with her.

Good morning! Waking up this early is probably reminiscent of college last year
isn’t it?
God yeah, I’ve not been up this early for about a year. I didn’t used to have a
problem with it as it was my routine but now because I have such a chilled life at the
minute it’s a huge shock to the system.

Have you always been a talented singer or did you pick it up in school?
I’d never been talented but I had such a passion for music so took music as a subject.
I was pretty much failing as I had absolutely NO talent but my teacher, who was
great, said I had potential in my voice so he gave me lessons and it worked out pretty
well actually, as you can see!

What did it feel like when you won the Visible Noise Battle of the Bands?
I don’t even really remember! As we were last to perform we went off stage then I
was just instantly dragged back on again. The screaming was incredible! My ears
were ringing, everything was blurred and I can just remember diving at the crowd, I
think I probably thought it would look cool but I probably looked like a d**k.

So had you got any back up plans if the band didn’t take off?
I actually hadn’t. It sounds pretty bad thinking about it now; I mean we didn’t know
we would be successful! I know the guys had little side jobs, which were their, back
ups if it all went wrong but I just put my faith in the band and was so incredibly lucky.

Did you do anything to celebrate your win?

Well, there was a huge party in our honor, which was just insane! We were given so
many drinks by people to congratulate us, I don’t think many people realized we
were only 17 at the time... [laughs] the guys had a few unwanted tattoos when we
woke up!

You obviously relish the rock star life style. Are you considering any tattoos?
Yeah! It’s like we were actually made for this life. Yes, definitely. They are such an
incredible art form and just really beautiful. I want them to represent parts of my life
though, so a lot more thought is going into them.

With the band being so young do you find it odd hanging around with your new
older musician friends?
Yeah! We’ve befriended some incredible people, that were my idols when I was
young, like Ian Watkins and its weird when you think about it that they’re like 10-15
years older than us but when we all hang out and party its just so crazy and fun we
forget our ages because we’re all so alike!
How do you feel when fans come up to you?
It can be really overwhelming but it’s a great feeling; I love it! I see them and I’m like
‘wow! I did that, I’ve brightened this kids day’, which makes me feel happy and
excited! Although I’m sure after a while I’ll snap and get annoyed, sorry to who ever
it happens to!

How do you feel about the bad reviews you’ve had?

Obviously it’s never great to hear that someone doesn’t like what you’re doing but
you’ve got to put it into perspective really, not everyone is going to like it but you’ve
just got to get on with life really. I have a huge amount of respect for them though
because their expressing their feelings and I think expressing yourself is the best
thing you can do in life, whether it be in a song, art on your body or an article with
your opinions.

Did you enjoy making the album?

God yeah! The three of use locked up together for like a whole month, it had it’s
draw backs but it was great! We had such an awesome time, we’ve been best friends
for ages and we just have fun doing anything together. There was so much time
wasted just pratting around I’m surprised we even completed an album!

Why did you choose to name your first album ‘Greatest Hits’?
I don’t know really, I think it just started off as a joke and then when we actually
made the album we thought ‘yeah might as well’, starting as we mean to go on. Keep
a bit of positivity!

What are you planning to your second album?

Er [laughs] probably ‘It’ll never be as good as the first’ it always seems to be that
way, we might as go with it and not disappoint anyone with some pretentious name!

Finally, do you have any future plans?

Well we’re planning a huge tour so that should be awesome! Travelling, performing,
partying all the things we love!
