· Senior Network Engineer will have Industry Accepted Technical Certifications suc
h as CSSIP, CCIE, CCDP, CCNP Certifications. Senior Network Engineer will have r
eal world experience in developing SOP s, submitting change control proposals and
Project Plans to the Configuration Control Board and/or Technical Review Board,
and expert understanding of current and emerging network technologies.
· As a Senior Member of the network operations team, the SNE will have major Clien
t Interface responsibilities and serve as mentor for all staff members.
· Will be called upon regularly as a backup to other staff on the network team (e.
g. update BIND DNS zones and create DHCP scopes with infoblox, etc.
· Develop scripts to identify security events, fault detection, correlation of log
events, performance metrics, and generate reports to support specific service l
evel requirements.
· The Senior Network Engineer is required to be available on-call 24x7. The Engine
er will be issued a Blackberry and VPN access to allow rapid response to network
events whenever the network operations center escalates a problem requiring Tie
r-3 support Most events have a 4 hour cure window.
Preferred Skill-Set and Experience:
· Expert experience as a Systems Administrator for both Windows and Linux
· Recent experience supporting multi-VRF networks using BGP and MPLS is a plus.
· Experience with 802.1x and Network Access Control (NAC) is a plus.
· Bachelor s Degree (Required), Masters (Preferred) in a Technical Discipline
· Recent experience documenting, implementing, and troubleshooting nationwide and
campus networks built using Cisco network devices (Catalyst 3750 & 6500 switches
, Cisco 3800 & 7200 routers running IOS 12.4, and Cisco ASA 5500 series firewall
s).
· Recent experience configuring routing protocols, applying route filters and trou
bleshooting enterprise and/or service provider internet edge and backbone router
s running BGP, EIGRP, and OSPF. Must understand how to use BGP in a multi-homed/
multi-carrier environment.
· Excellent problem solving skills and a solid understanding of how to troubleshoo
t connectivity and performance issues that involve firewalls, routers, network a
pplications, and circuits (T-1, T-3, OC-3, OC-12, ISDN, HDLC, PPP, ATM, Frame Re
lay, and MPLS).
· Experience with/using Red Hat Linux, technical writing, presentations, DMVPN, an
d IPSEC.
· Strong knowledge of TCP/IP stack and how it operates on networks with hosts runn
ing Linux, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003 and Solaris.
· Strong understanding of application transport and network infrastructure protoco
ls (SSL/TLS, DNS, DHCP, WINS, NTP, FTP, HTTP, SMTP, CIFS, LDAP, and Microsoft AD
) and their relationship to end-user applications.
· Proficient with Perl scripting language is preferred for automating configuratio
n changes, parsing log data from firewalls and routers, generating reports, dete
cting network traffic anomalies etc.
· Possess strong Linux command-line skills. Install and operate open source softwa
re to perform network monitoring.
· Must have experience modifying firewall rule sets, studying network traffic flow
s to reverse-engineer the required firewall rules to lock down an application, a
nd troubleshooting firewall problems in an enterprise or service provider enviro
nment under short time constraints involving complex network application flows b
etween multiple hosts spanning multiple firewalls and different geographic locat
ions.
· Experience working in a remotely administered lights-out environment is preferre
d, where equipment is deployed, pre-configured, and out-of-band access via modem
is used when necessary during circuit problem determination.
· Must be able to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, w
ith fluency in English.
· ITIL and/or PMP Certifications a plus
