ING OF MARCH 14, 2011 DATE: MARCH 11, 2011 Z “a FROM: R. BEN BIFOSS, CITY MANAGER © SUBJECT: PRIVATE/FOR-PROFIT USE OF PUBLIC PARKS We have received a number of requests from private and/or for-profit groups to reserve public parks for their exclusive use. The most recent request to the Parks and Recreation Commission was the use of Hickory Hills for the entire summer season by a for-profit recreational activity. While these uses have not created problems in the past it seems there are limits on the private use of public spaces. We ask that the City Commission and Parks and Recreation Commission have a general discussion on these types of requests and pethaps provide general guidelines on how these types of requests should be considered. If you have questions in advance of the meeting, let me know. cc: Lauren Vaughn, Parks & Rec Department
