FIRE MAGIC BARBECUE AND A

CONSTRUCTING BUILT IN GRILL

An outdoor kitchen can come in many shapes, sizes and materials. Common design aspects use brick or
cut stone and you don’t necessarily have to build a solid brick or stone structure to obtain this look. By
building a wooden frame first you can add any siding you want whether its brick or bottle caps. So go
out and take some measurements and draw up some plans because building an outdoor area for parties
and family dinners isn’t as hard or expensive as you might think.

After you’ve drawn up some plans purchase

enough pressure treated 2x4s to complete
a frame. Make sure the frame will be able
to support heavy counter tops and siding if
that’s what you are planning, by notching
the vertical wood supports this takes the
weight off nails allowing for a more solid
structure. After you’ve built your frame for
fire magic gas grill get some pressure
treated plywood and cut it to size making
sure to leave room for your cabinets and
any other additions.

It is important to leave ventilation holes so

that if there were to be a leak in a gas hose
the gases wouldn’t build up within the
structure and potentially cause a flash fire
or explosion. Attach the plywood using
construction adhesive and nails. Backer
board is heat and water resistant and also
strong for support and is a good option for
your next step especially for areas around you’re built in barbecue grill. I

nstead of backer board if you want to tack on builders felt and wire mesh then laid your mortar that
works too. Be sure to score your mortar with a scoring tool and you are ready to lay your pre cut stones,
bricks tile or whatever else. There are many ways to do the last few steps depending on what type of
conditions your kitchen will be enduring should determine truly what materials to use. If you plan on
building a roof of some sort around your kitchen and you don’t experience freezing temperature there
shouldn’t be a need to surround the whole structure with backing board. Install your cabinets, grill, wire
your electronics, fit your water and gas lines and add your counter tops and your ready to cook.
