IT Futsal, Kochi 2011 season was mainly contended between TCS, Wipro, UST, OPI and some

other IT Firms from Kochi. In the end, OPI went through the tournament without a single defeat
and were crowned champions. OPI achieved this with a single squad were UST, TCS and Wipro
participated in the tournament with their A team and B Team.

Rajiv Gandhi Sports Complex was the venue for Arsenal’s glory. Kerala’s first Artificial Green
Turf which reminds the pitch of Premier division European giant clubs. It was an amazing
feeling to play in a world class turf like that.

We started our dream run with 4 – 0 triumph over UST A team in fine style. In quarter final
Arbitron was the team who wanted to kick us out. Arbitron ensured their quarter final birth after
beating one of the tournament favorites Wipro. But we didn’t felt them as enough for us and it
was an average match and we reached Semi final after registering 2-0 in the score sheet.

Semi-final match started @ 2:00 PM and that was too hard to survive the high temperature. All
looked like tired and TCS B team our strong opponents scored 2 shocker and we are down to 2-
0 in the first half. In the half time break our friends and supporters encouraged us and we have
made some tactical changes and positions for a counterstrike. Dramatically we have leveled the
game with 2 classic encounter, score 2-2. Shootout needed to find the winner and our stunning
strikes and two bad shots of TCS made us the winner.

Second semifinal held just after our match and we saw a deadly dangerous TCS A Team easily
terminated UST B Team to through to the final. Till that time from 3 matches in the tournament
TCS A team scored awesome 16 goals and looked like well coordinated and they were the clear
favorites in the final.

We have made tactics and started with the same formation and position which we used in the
second half of semi final. There we displayed an amazing coordination, thirst for victory, class,
and style to make the grievous opponents silent. Fought hard to get the ball, created few half
chances and a stunning opener from Augustine and Lyon ensured the title with the final goal of
the tournament. I’m proud to be a part of the team.

I hope this is the first ever tournament held in an artificial green turf in Kerala and we are the
first Champions in an artificial green turn ground in the state. So it’s really a historical
achievement, a life time achievement.
