PROCLAMATION FOR AN HONORARY STREET SIGN

IN HONOR OF IRISH BILLY BRIGGS'

WHEREAS, William Russell "Irish Billy Briggs" was a longtime business


owner of Tir Na Nog on the Hamilton Township/Trenton border; and

WHEREAS, Billy Briggs was one of the founders of the Trenton St.
Patrick's Day Parade and a loyal friend to the Irish-American community in
Hamilton Township; and

WHEREAS, the efforts of Billy Briggs has earned him many awards from
local and Irish organizations and the respect of the local Irish-American
community; and

WHEREAS, the loyalty and dedication shown by Billy Briggs to his


community should be honored by the Township of Hamilton; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting tq place an honorary sign naming the corner of


Francis Avenue and Hamilton Avenue "Irish Billy Briggs Avenue" in honor of
Billy Briggs;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of Hamilton, in the


County of Mercer and State of New Jersey, that an honorary street sign shall be
placed on the corner of Francis Avenue and Hamilton Avenue naming the corner
"Irish Billy Briggs Avenue" in honor of Billy Briggs.
