BUDGET 2010

The Overview of the economy: - The GDP growth in 2008-9 is 6.7% from an average of 8.8% and the
economy stabilized in the Q1 09-10 with the growth of 6.1 % as against the growth of 5.8% in the
previous year. The likely estimated Growth of the year 09-10 is 7.2 %.

Agricultural and Rural Development

The Agricultural growth:- To spur the growth the following 4 points should be taken care of

1. Agricultural Production:-
a. To extend green revolutions to state like Bihar, CGR, U.P , W.B,, 400 crore for this .
b. To Use water harvesting and management to enhance the productivity of the dry area ,
300 crore for this
c. 200 crore for conserving the grains by launching the climate resilient agriculture
initiative.

2. Reduction in wastage of produced


a. The time for hiring the Go down by FCI has been increased from 3 to 5 yrs.
3. Credit support to farmers:- Banks have been allotted Rs 3,75,000 Crore for Credit for farmers
and the previous repayment has been increased by 6 months and timely repayment of loan by
farmers will get them a rebate of 2 % instead of 1%.
4. A thrust to the food processing sector: - 5 more food processes parks to be set up.

Rural Development: - 66,100 crore has been set aside for rural development

1. 48,000 crore to various groups like NREGA and bharat nirman .


2. Cost of construction on Plain areas and hilly areas has been increased.( Indira Awas Yojana).
