Commitment to Prayer
March 20, 2011 The second phase of aur Take A Step Discipleship
Second Sunday of Lent Appeal is the Pilar of Prayer. St. Paul says, “At every
opportunity pray in the Spirit, using payer and petitions
of every sort. Pray constantly and attentively for
all" (Ephesians 6:18). What is being asked of us in this
phase of personel Discipleship is that we make a
commitment to prayer.
With the busy lives we all lead, sometimes daily prayer
time just seems to get Inst. Through o personal
commitment to prayer, we are being called to make
prayer a priority over all the other activities that crawd
our lives, We are being called to the daily activity that
can lift us up, give us purpose, help us cope with each
day's ups and dawns, and bring us jy and peace.
Building the “Gity of God" at St. Paul is our faith
community's purpose. The Pilar of Prayer infuses cur
parish with Bad's spirit: it firmly sets the foundation far
‘our own personal Discipleship, which is the cornerstone
{for cur parish community success,
dust think, approximately 800 families make up St.
Paul. If each person in the family pledged (0 minutes of
daily prayer for the next year, and assuming an average
of three persons per family, as a faith community 2.400
parishioners would offer cver B00 haurs of prayer
in the coming year!
