Here's the letter I mailed out to about 100 people...I also attached the
thank you letter I created and send out.
 
Things I did:
- hand addressed each letter and signed each one...small personal touch
that doesn't make it feel like a mass mailer
- send out emails each month with updates on fundraising progress,
training events, and information about BCM and the climb
- include listing of all donors on my personal web page and in each
email...making sure they are recognized
- listing the donors also lets the folks on your distribution know who has
contributed...often that will get people to contribute based upon someone
else they know on the list
- follow up with a hand written note for each donation...I've actually had
repeat donations because of this.
 
In the past I've also participated in silent auctions to help raise
money...this was a fellow climbers fundraiser and it went really well.  They
had mostly art that was auctioned off.
